Metric Systems Corporation was founded in 1985, in Acton, Massachusetts, to develop wireless communications components for the military and federal marketplaces. Early solutions included airborne paging systems, navigational test systems, and missile telemetry test equipment.
In 1992, MSC relocated to Carlsbad, California. Working in partnership with Motorola®’s Land Mobile division, MSC developed and distributed SCADA wireless networking software applications using the Motorola RNET 9600, the industry’s first, low-cost, high-speed integrated UHF radio modem.
In 1997, to meet the growing need for industrial, Internet-based wireless industrial communications solutions, we introduced the MAVRIC® 2000 Wireless Router/Controller. The MAVRIC 2000 simplified SCADA and industrial wireless implementation by providing a seamless networking interface between radio data modems and almost any IP or legacy monitoring or control device. Other networking products followed, including the multi-channel MAVRIC 5000, the ruggedized MAVRIC Explorer, and the low-cost Pathfinder® Sx and Pathfinder Lx series, which was awarded the Utilities Telecommunications Council (UTC) Product of the Year award.
Today our SAFARI®-based wireless networking controller and Rhino Box™environmentally controlled transportable system enclosures provide government, industrial, and commercial enterprises around the world with reliable and secure communications.
We invite you to contact us to discuss your next wireless communications project or concept.
